I though I was buying a high-end product at first and was willing to lay down a chunk of money to store my media collection. My setup would have been an iMac and firewire Drobo and I needed at least 2TB of storage for a couple of years (I'm sure things will change by then).

Fortunately, I did not put my original drives into Drobo until I had a chance to test it. First day I had serious performance issues in terms of speed dragging under 10 megs per second, a 75% full drive brought it to a halt. It killed another drive and I thought well maybe the drive was bad. It's gotten great reviews on Apple's site but 30 great reviews is not 300 (how many employees does the company have?). I never did get a response from the Drobo team hippsters.

Anyway, maybe I'm being unfair but it seems to be an overpriced redundant storage kit despite the slick marketing. I suspect that revolutionary BeyondRAID technology is just load balancing. Perhaps they will make improvements and this product will be fantastic.

Apple was great, I took everything back easily. For my storage needs a MacPro with 3 TB was more than sufficient and a little slicker, until next year.

Your lucky you get email responses. I have been waiting for a week now and haven't gotten a call back or email. Waiting 45min on hold for tech support. Is this legal what they are doing.

Alex, sorry to hear that you got a lemon. Especially after you were so hyped about the product and expected it to perform and maybe exceed expectations.
It is sad to see a company not support or stand behind its products. Thanks for the heads up.
