Four Seasons is positioned on Costa Rica’s northwest Pacific coast within the province of Guanacaste. Though it’s the country’s second largest province, Guanacaste is the least populated, offering a calm, peaceful ambience. The pampas – or prairie – landscape is an unusual mix of grassy savannahs, immense cattle ranches and tropical dry forest, backed by volcanic mountain ranges.
Guanacaste also offers some of the country’s best beaches – with shores stretching about 160 km (99 miles) from the Nicaragua border to the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. Some beaches have been declared protected breeding grounds for the leatherback sea turtle.
Four Seasons is located on exclusive Peninsula Papagayo, a master-planned resort community encompassing 930 hectares (2,300 acres). This secluded natural sanctuary provides abundant opportunities to experience eco-adventure on land and in water.
The 145 generously sized guest rooms and suites are imaginatively crafted with indigenous woods and stone finishes. Each room seamlessly blends indoor comfort with an outdoor furnished terrace or verandah to soak up the mesmerising views.
Sliding louvred doors between sleeping and living spaces maximise privacy and invite the flow of fresh sea breezes. Residential-style furnishings and décor draw their inspiration from the natural surroundings: ocean, forest, sunshine or beach. Well-defined work areas allow guests to remain productive, with up-to-the-minute technology for communication and entertainment, including high-speed Internet access throughout.
Extra-spacious bathrooms are cool, airy and inviting, clad in marble and offering signature Four Seasons features: deep soaking tub, separate glass-enclosed shower, large double vanity and – in a separate alcove – WC with telephone.
