Svetlana & Robert’s Engagement Session

by Alex Rodriguez on October 1, 2008

Several weeks ago I was contacted by Robert, he was deep in the planning stages of a vacation in Miami with his girlfriend. He was going to propose to Svetlana and wanted some engagement pictures during his visit. We met up mid afternoon at the wonderful Fairchild Tropical Gardens and then headed out for a taste of Miami. Svetlana & Robert are sure to have one incredible wedding in Sweden with Svetlana’s Russian influence and Robert’s Swedish blood this is sure to be a memorable event.

These are some of my favorite images.

Svetlana & Robert, I hope you enjoyed South Florida and I can’t wait to hear more about your incredible wedding plans.

Amy & Mike’s Engagement Session

by Alex Rodriguez on September 24, 2008

This past week I had the pleasure of shooting Amy & Mike’s engagement session. The afternoon was quite an adventure between the iguanas, raccoons and injured beach bum, it turned out to be quite an afternoon. It was a great opportunity for Amy to fill me in on all the amazing details they have planned for their wedding day. I am really looking forward to their wedding at The Quarry’s Lake Lodge and Beach Club in Naples, Florida.

Amy & Mike, thank you for a memorable afternoon.

Diane & Mario’s Wedding

by Alex Rodriguez on September 24, 2008

Earlier this month I had an amazing time photographing Diane & Mario’s wedding. This lovely couple planned an intimate ceremony and reception with the closest of family and friends at one of the most historical churches in South Florida, the Coral Gables Congregational Church.

Here is a quick teaser.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

by Alex Rodriguez on September 23, 2008

This year, hundreds of thousands of people will hear the words, “You have breast cancer,” and there’s a good chance that some of them will be people we know and love. I have chosen to fight back against this disease and help make a difference by participating in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, and I hope you will join me.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is our opportunity to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate women about early detection and prevention, and raise money to fund lifesaving research and support programs to help fight breast cancer. But Making Strides is more than just the name of a walk, it describes the amazing progress we can make if we work together to defeat this disease.

Below is a link to my personal page. I hope you will visit my site and sign up to join my team. If you prefer, you can start your own team, sign up to walk as an individual, or make a donation. Hope starts with me and it can continue with you. Please join my team and walk with us to experience an incredible day of inspiration and meaning, and to provide hope for all people facing breast cancer.

To donate now,use this link to visit my personal page.

September 11th

by Alex Rodriguez on September 11, 2008

O God of love, compassion, and healing,
look on us, people of many different faiths and traditions,
who gather today at this site,
the scene of incredible violence and pain.

We ask you in your goodness
to give eternal light and peace
to all who died here—
the heroic first-responders:
our fire fighters, police officers,
emergency service workers, and Port Authority personnel,
along with all the innocent men and women
who were victims of this tragedy
simply because their work or service
brought them here on September 11, 2001.

We ask you, in your compassion
to bring healing to those
who, because of their presence here that day,
suffer from injuries and illness.
Heal, too, the pain of still-grieving families
and all who lost loved ones in this tragedy.
Give them strength to continue their lives with courage and hope.

We are mindful as well
of those who suffered death, injury, and loss
on the same day at the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Our hearts are one with theirs
as our prayer embraces their pain and suffering.

God of peace, bring your peace to our violent world:
peace in the hearts of all men and women
and peace among the nations of the earth.
Turn to your way of love
those whose hearts and minds
are consumed with hatred.

God of understanding,
overwhelmed by the magnitude of this tragedy,
we seek your light and guidance
as we confront such terrible events.
Grant that those whose lives were spared
may live so that the lives lost here
may not have been lost in vain.
Comfort and console us,
strengthen us in hope,
and give us the wisdom and courage
to work tirelessly for a world
where true peace and love reign
among nations and in the hearts of all.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

by Alex Rodriguez on September 8, 2008

My family has a long history of cancer, as a senior in high-school my mom passed away from what began as ovarian cancer, this month help support the national Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

It is estimated that this year more than 16,000 women will die in the United States from ovarian cancer. Many women don’t seek help until the disease has begun to spread, but if detected at its earliest stage, the 5 year survival rate is more than 93%. Recent research suggests that together the 4 symptoms of bloating, pelvic or abdominal pain, difficulty eating or feeling full quickly and urinary urgency or frequency may be associated with ovarian cancer.

Help find a cure for this terrible disease!
